Many people with disabilities (I know it's especially common with chronic pain) suffer from depression at least at some level for some period of time, and I'm sure plenty of people with disabilities deal with a variety of mental illnesses in the long-term. Having to be inspiring all the time leaves absolutely no room for both mental and physical disability.

I completely agree. This is the exact reason why I hate the quote “The only disability in life is a bad attitude”, it dismisses and shames people for not acting or feeling a certain way in regards to disability or illness.
